Watercolor is a beautiful medium for capturing the subtle colors of sea and sky. In this class, explore techniques for creating washes that bring the seaside to life. Bring a 5x7 reference photo of your choice (a photocopy is fine) or select one from the instructor’s collection. All materials will be provided by the instructor.

Explore the art of pressed botanicals in this hands-on class. Create a 6” x 2” bookmark using pressed flowers and foliage, which will be laminated and finished with a colorful tassel. This class will also include a presentation on pressed flower art, covering types of flower presses, varieties of pressed materials, techniques, and a gallery of inspiring artwork. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class. Students must bring a pair of flat-ended tweezers.

Continue exploring watercolor techniques while capturing winter’s subtle beauty as New England transitions into spring. This course offers guided instruction, brief demonstrations, and creative exploration as we paint snow scenes, early iced flowers, berries, and wildlife. Building on the foundation from Part 1, this course allows students to refine their sketching skills and deepen their understanding of facial proportions and expression. Under the guidance of ShawnaLee, a board member of the CT Society of Portrait Artists, students will practice more advanced portrait techniques and complete several sketches.
